What is Portrait Noir? Portrait Noir is beautiful timeless images presented in a simple black & white format, its all about the expression, whether that is a smile or a more serious look. I spent 6 years in studio photographing families in bright colours against a white background, and while there is nothing wrong with that type of photography, Its not something I want to carry on doing. I wanted to create a style that was more in fitting with my current branding and something that was different from what everybody else was doing.
How much does is cost? The sitting fee is just £50. This includes around 30 minutes photography time and a framed 7x5 portrait of your choice.
How do I buy more photos? After the sitting I will upload all the photos to a secure gallery on my website, you can order framed prints, canvas’s and packs of loose prints directly from here. Because of the simplicity and elegance of black & white photography, I offer a small carefully chosen range of display options, these include canvas wraps and stylish 2 inch black frames, the sizes and prices are below. 7x5 frame £65 10x8 frame £95 16x12 frame £195 20x16 frame £245 20x24 frame £295 If you wish to order smaller unframed prints as gifts for friends and family they are available as follows. 7x5 loose prints £25 10x8 loose prints £35 You can also put the £50 sitting fee towards the value of a higher priced item instead of taking the framed 7x5 if you wish.
Can I buy digital files? I am happy to include a web resolution file with every print or framed image you purchase, as I know how much people love to share their photos on facebook etc… High resolution images they are available for £50 each.
How should I dress my children for the Portrait Noir photoshoot? As the photos are taken against a black background, darker clothing works best, this draws more attention to the face and the expression in the photos. As all the photos are black and white, the clothing doesn’t have to be black or grey, but simple dark, long sleeve tops work best. My child doesn’t like having his photo taken and he never smiles, what can you do? That’s cool, these type of photos look great even without smiles, please don’t be that parent who tries to force their child to smile. I have over 15 years’ experience of taking child portraits trust me on this one!
Sounds good so far, where and when? The next portrait Noir studio day will be at Village Studios in Bexley village on Sunday 3rd November 2013. The address is Village Studios, Unit 11, Stable Lane, Bexley, Kent, DA5 2AW or click here for a map (Its through the 1st set of gates on the left after the stables on Stable Lane)
Great, how do I book and what happens next? I have just 8 spaces available, so its best to be quick! Please drop me an email at [email protected] or use my contact form here ask me any other questions you might and I will let you know which times I have left and how to pay. The sessions will be on the hour from 10am to 5pm
One last question, what if I book then can't make it on the day? Please let me know as soon as think you can't make the session, If its just a bump or bruise you think will ruin the photos, dont worry thats what Photoshop is for. The same if its just a runny nose. If you genuinely can not make your booked session, I will do my best to fill your slot from my resvere list, If I can I will refund your £50. However, if it is very last minute and I can not cover the booking with another client, I will not issue a refund, but will hold your appointment over to the next date I offer a portrait studio day.
Thanks for reading! I look forward to seeing you on the 3rd.
